History: Noel is the last remaining human on Gran Pulse in 700AF, besides Paddra Nsu-Yeul and Caius Ballad. He became Caius' student, wanting to eventually become Yeul's guardian like Caius was. Knowing he could never better Caius by using one sword, Noel instead adopted the use of two, and fights by dual-weilding. Eventually, Noel is pleased to learn from Caius that he is now strong enough to become Yeul's official Guardian. However, after learning that it would mean killing Caius, Noel refuses to go through with it. Caius forces Noel to fight, and Noel is over-powered, before Caius leaves for Valhalla to kill Etro and free Yeul from her fate.
After Caius leaves, Noel finds Yeul praying at the shrine, but she is near the end of her life. Yeul collapses into Noel's arms and tells Noel that though she wished she'd been able to have more time with him, she promises a tearful Noel that they will meet again before she disintegrates into light. It is then that Noel fully realises the fate of the Seeress and her gift, and that Caius had kept Yeul's fate a secret from him all this time. He decides to set out on a journey, to become a warrior recognised by Etro, so that he can find Valhalla, and gain the power to change his fate.
Etro finally answers Noel's prayers, just as he is about to accept death, and he is transported to Valhalla through the Historia Crux, and he regains consciousness just as he falls out of Etro's Gate. He gets saved by Lightning flying on Bahamut, but then they are caught in an aerial battle with Caius as Chaos Bahamut. Afterwards, having recognised Noel from her visions, Lightning asks a favour of him. She asks him to find Serah, and to bring her sister to her, to Valhalla, and that they have to work together to change the future. She gives him a moogle called Mog, saying he is a good luck charm for Serah, before she covers Noel's escape as he makes a break for the Time Gate.
Arriving in New Bodhum -003AF- on the time gate's meteorite, Noel comes to Serah's aid when she is attacked by monsters, handing her the crossbow that Mog turns into to defend herself with. After taking care of the monsters together, Noel introduces himself properly to Serah, and tells her that Lightning gave Mog to him. The members of NORA aren't quick to believe anything that Noel tells them, about the gates, the monsters, and that he's from a different time - Gadot especially seems to dislike Noel, saying he doesn't trust him. Soon though, Serah decides that she believes Noel, and they set off through the time gate after finding the artefact for it.
Now, they are on their quest to fix the paradoxes in the timeline, and to restore the timeline to the way it was before, and to change things so that the world has a better future. However, in the process, because of time paradoxes, some of Noel's memories become fuzzy and he forgets some things completely.
Weapons: Flame Fossil - dual swords/lance. One blade is stylised to look like flames, and it also holds a more simple bronze long sword, which can be removed, to make dual blades. Both blades can combine together to make a lance, which can be thrown like a javelin.
