History: Oerba Yun Fang was born nearly five hundred years ago. She was a resident of Gran Pulse, living on the sea side within a small village of Oerba. Most of her past had been vague, primarily because she had been crystalized for so many centuries. She can only desrcibe her past as something she never want to remember.
In the village of Oerba, the War of Transgression put a toll on both Fang and Vanille, losing their loved ones at the cost of l'Cie and fal'Cie from Cocoon invasion to Gran Pulse. Fang, in grief, sought to try and save what was left of Gran Pulse after being in an orphange and had become a l'Cie as well. In her Focus, she must fullfill to destroy Cocoon while becoming Ragnarok, along side with Vanille, who had the same Focus as well.
Fang had attempted to complete her Focus while becoming Ragnarok. However, it was not enough but she was fortunate enough to see the crack of Cocoon's shell. The Goddess Etro, prevented further progress upon Fang's attempt by crystalizing Vanille and Fang before they were able to complete their Focus. The two of them remained in Cocoon for five hundred years.
Five hundred years later, Fang wakes up suddenly along with Vanille. With no recollection the past incident of becoming Ragnarok, Fang attempts to remember what happened. Bits of her memory slowly gains back but only a sufficient amount about knowing of her Focus. It was then that she only assumed that Anima had replaced them with new l'Cie to complete their Focus.
For five days they wandered Cocoon trying to figure out what their Focus was, and on the fifth day they got separated at the Euride Gorge after attacking it to 'kick-start their memories', as Fang put it. After shoving Vanille into an elevator so she could escape, Fang stayed behind to fend off any soldiers that were chasing them. After defeating the soldiers Fang was found by cavalry and temporarily joined them because their commander, Cid Raines, said that he would help her.
Days later Fang captured Snow Villiers, who was trying to rescue his fiance from crystal stasis. After capturing him and hearing his story, Fang and Snow leave with Cavalry to try and hunt the other l'Cie. They met them in Palumpolum and after being briefly separated they met up again at Hope Esthiem's house. When the house was attacked, though, they fled Palumpolum through Cavalry.
After being rescued from Palumpolum Fang and her companions infiltrated the Palamecia to rescue Oerba Dia Vanille and Sazh Katzroy. After the rescue, they began their escape from the ship, only to be led into a trap by the Primarch. The Primach revealed their Focus to them, and then revealed himself to be the fal'Cie, Barthandelus. They managed to escape, though, with an airship and found themselves on the Fifth Ark.
In the Ark the group decides to abandon their Focus. The group, minus Fang, stated she doesn't want to see her friends turn into Cie'th. Fang briefly turned on the party before unintentionally summoning her Eidolon, Bahamut. After battling the Eidolon, Fang rejoined the group and they returned their trek through the Ark.
At the end of the Ark the group found a Pulsian ship. They flew it through a portal and out onto Gran Pulse itself. On Gran Pulse the group decided to travel to Oerba, Fang and Vanille's hometown. On the way there Fang's memories about her Focus returned to her and she confronted Vanille about it. Upon discovering the truth from Vanille, Fang became angry at her companion, but soon calmed down. The group then resumes their travel to Oerba.
Upon reaching Oerba they discovered that it had been abandoned and dilapidated, inhabited now by Cie'th only. Nevertheless, they went into Oerba only to find the fal'Cie Barthandelus was there as well. The group engaged Barthandelus, and after the fight the fal'Cie left on an airship. After he left the group traveled to Eden.
The group reached Eden and managed to make it to Orphan's Cradle. Inside, they found the fal'Cie Barthandelus there. The group managed to defeat him, however after the battle Orphan rose from its pool and began torturing Vanille to make her turn into Ragnarok. Upon seeing her friend get tortured, Fang told Orphan to leave Vanille alone and that she would turn into Ragnarok instead.
After saying this to Orphan, Fang turned on the rest of the party. After being held back by Snow and Sazh, however, she forcefully turned into an incomplete form of Ragnarok. This caused the rest of the group, minus Vanille, to turn into Cie'th. Fang then attacks Orphan, but fails and reverts back to her human form. After the group, as Cie'th, attack her she manages to turn into Ragnarok once more. And once again, she fails to destroy Orphan, however she manages to crack its shell. After turning back into a human again, Orphan starts torturing her to force her into becoming the complete form of Ragnarok.
Suddenly, the rest of the group turn back into humans. They save Fang and the group attacks and defeats Orphan. In the wake of Orphan's destruction, Fang and Vanille sacrifice themselves to save Cocoon. Together they become Ragnarok and create a huge pillar of lava from Cocoon to Pulse. They then used the crystal dust from Oerba and turned Cocoon to crystal, transporting the people on Cocoon to Pulse. They then turned into crystal inside a huge crystal cavern deep within Cocoon.
After being crystalized for several years, Fang finally woke up inside a large crystalized cavern in Cocoon.Weak from her transformation into Ragnarok, Fang awoke to find out that she was not in the right place. It wasn't Cocoon or even Gran Pulse. She was somewhere else.
