History: Not much is known of Ultimecia's world. In fact, the only thing that's solid evidence of her own existence is her castle. It is there that she is the only inhabitant living in her world and time. Nothing of her world had been mentioned but only herself.
Ultimecia's entire goal had been to escape the supposed fate and defeat against a "Legendary SeeD", of whom she would attempt to end the life of the one who will defeat her in the future. She is a powerful sorceress, who bends her ability to spread her mind across and through time. The desire to change the future of her fate had become an immense obsession to where she would use time compression to bring all worlds into one. Through time compression, Ultimecia can absorb all time, space, and existence which would lead her to believe that she is "a living goddess". The power she possesses using the time compression can ultimately become the superior ruler of all time and existence. No rules or boundaries would be set for her and she would rule all.
Ultimecia sends her counciousness back im time to take control of a woman name Edea Kramer - a sorceress during the time of the "Legendary SeeD's" existence. The initial plan had been to send her mind far enough in time to be able to cast the time compression spell while using the Junction Machine that was a vessel for her power to spread so far. But every item had a price and though the machine went as far as it could, Ultimecia had to use other resources to further her powers. This went as far as trying to find a girl named Ellone who had the natural gift to send people's conciousnesses through time. Edea, still under Ultimecia's possession, had been used to fill up the ranks from the Galbadia government and eventually became the Ambassador of Galbadia by President Vinzer Deling.
Ultimecia also takes control of a renegade SeeD by the name of Seifer Almasy, after he had put himself in a bad situation of taking President Deling hostage. Evidently, Ultimecia had saved Seifer's life, leaving the SeeD cadets paralyzed by her magic. Seifer now willingly works beside Ultimecia (still in Edea's body) after she had saved him and she alone had turned him into her Sorceress Knight.
The parade, celebrating for the newly appointed Amassador, had other plans too. Several SeeD members forumlated a plan to assassinate Edea. But the plan failed horribly. Rinoa Heartilly attempted to first prevent Ultimecia from even going out of her room by tricking Ultimecia to wear a bangle that would surpress Ultimecia's power or even take away her sorceress power. With no effort, Rinoa was unable to control her body and had been forced to nearly fall out of the balcony.
Then there was a confrontation after the pass under the Arch of Triumph gate. The gate collasped, almost taking Ultimecia's life. She was trapped and a bullet coming from the clock tower was the key to end her life there. But that didn't happen. Instead, she prevented the bullet by using a protect spell. Shortly after, Ultimecia was ambushed by a few more SeeD members by Squall, Irvine and Rinoa. Outnumbered, Ultimecia uses Edea's limit break to cripple Squall with the ice strike. It had pierced through his chest, leaving him unable to use his body.
Rather than killing Squall and the others, Ultimecia told Siefer to extract information about them. During this time, she decided to declare Garden to be her enemy and orders a missile strike to Balamb and Trabia Gardens. They had missed, thanks to Squall and those who escaped from the prison.
The battle of Gardens began once Ultimecia took control of what was left of Galbadia Garden and sets her goal to find Ellone. The searc of Ellone became over run by Galbadian forces that searched Balamb and Fishermans Horizeon. But to no surprise, Ellone wasn't there. The invasion ended shortly after Squall and his allies that were there to stop her.
Ultimecia, being only able to rely on herself, attempts to fight back against Squall but was unsucessful. Instead of trying to use Edea, Edea's powers became ill causing Ultimecia to forcefully possess Rinoa who was in the auditorium of the fight.
Afterwards, the revival of Siefer and the success of obtaing the Lunar Pandora, Squall was forced to take Rinoa's comatose body to visit Ellone in hopes to save Rinoa from death. Unfortunately, Ultimecia had awoken, using Rinoa to open Adel's tomb (a powerful sorceress to which the tomb was kept in space orbiting the planet). Ultimecia left Rinoa's body while in space, leaving her to die. Seifer eventaully captures Ellone, bringing her back to utlimecia while the monsters roam free down to Earth from the moon *thanks to the Lunar Pandora which completed the Lunar Cry).
Once again Ultimecia had been forced to confront Squall and the others but had used Rinoa to still attempt to restore Adel's powers after Utilmecia posessed Adel. When it was completed and teh defeat of Adel brought Rinoa to be the only sorceress of her time period left in their world. Using this, Ellone was able to bring both Rinoa and Ultimecia's conciousness back in time and temporary open the window to Ultimecia's world which led to her castle.
The final battle begins with Squall and the others to fight against the powerful sorceress. Using her abiilty, Ultimecia reached into Squall's mind, creating Griever to use against Squall as her own Guardian Force. When he was defeated, Ultimecia merges with Griever thus amplfying her powers to a greater extent. But that was no sucess either. Ultimecia finally transforms into her deity form which was the last resort used to defend herself against the SeeDs. She attempts to kill them by creating a spell known as "Apocalypse". This spell alone is ten times greater than Utlima and deals with non-elemental damage.
Unfortunately, she had not succeeded. Her defeat was invetiable, leaving only a message which was shrouded in pieces of incomplete. The fate or "death" of Ultimecia shortly came too, as she vanished into purple smoke. Rather than being dead, however, using what's left of her powers, Ultimecia used her own time compresson ability to travel back in to the future of her home. it is there that she rested to restore her body and powers, gaining back what she had lost.
